Medical Eye Exams

Dr. Douglas and Dr. Leisner offer comprehensive, dilated eye exams that include:

  • Patient and family health history.

  • Visual acuity measurement (how clearly each eye sees.)

  • Preliminary tests of visual function and eye health, including depth perception, color vision, peripheral (side) vision and the response of the pupils to light.

  • Assessment of refractive status to determine the presence of nearsightedness, farsightedness or astigmatism.

  • Evaluation of eye focusing, eye teaming and eye movement abilities.

  • Eye health examination.

We believe a dilated eye exam is the best thing you can do for your eye health! It’s how we check early on for eye diseases, when they’re easier to treat — and before they cause vision loss. Dilating your pupil lets more light into your eye — just like opening a door lets light into a dark room. Dilation allows us to check for common eye problems including cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and macular degeneration (AMD) and many systemic diseases like diabetes, heart disease and high blood pressure, to name a few.

We provide co-management care for a number of surgical procedures including cataract surgery, laser vision corrective surgery (LASIK), and glaucoma procedures. Our doctors work with trusted referral sources for patients who require surgical treatment.
