Dr. Richard Douglas, OD

Dr. Douglas received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Murray State University, inMurray, Kentucky and his Doctorate of Optometry from the Illinois College of Optometry, in Chicago, Illinois.
He completed externships with concentrations in diagnosis and management of ocular disease at Franklin Delano Roosevelt Veterans Administration Hospital in Montrose, New York, Perry Point Veterans Administration Hospital in Perry Point, Maryland, and Illinois Eye Institute Center for Advanced Ophthalmic Care. Additionally, he completed externships in the Illinois Eye Institute's Pediatric & Binocular Vision and Low Vision Departments. Dr. Douglas has also participated in clinical trials for new contact lens technologies.

Awards and honors include: Award of Distinction from Illinois Eye Institute Center for Advanced Ophthalmic Care, 1998, Award of Distinction from Illinois Eye Institute Low Vision Rehabilitation Service, 1998, Corning Medical Optics Low Vision Award, 1998 Honors from FDR VA Hospital Optometry Department, 1997, and Honors from Perry Point VA Hospital Optometry Department, 1997.

Specializing in general ophthalmic care, glaucoma management, pre and post-operative surgical care, and advanced ophthalmic care, Dr. Douglas entered into private practice in 1998 in Chester, Virginia. Dr. Douglas also practiced with a private ophthalmology group in Richmond for over 20 years. He is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Richmond Optometric Society and the Virginia Optometric Association.

 

Dr. Jill Leisner, OD, FAAO

Dr. Leisner earned her Bachelor of Vision Science and her Doctorate of Optometry from Ferris State University's Michigan College of Optometry. She completed a residency in Cornea and Contact Lenses at Nova Southeastern University, focusing on ocular disease and specialty fittings for scleral, gas permeable multifocal, keratoconic, and CRT lenses. In 2015, she became a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry following a rigorous candidacy process of written work and oral examination.

Her clinical training includes; externships at the Wm. Jennings Bryan VA Medical Center in Columbia, South Carolina, with concentrations in ocular disease and low vision; the Kresge Eye Institute, in Detroit, Michigan with a focus on speciality contact lenses, low vision and ocular disease, and Cherry Street Health Services, in Grand Rapids Michigan with a focus on pediatrics and ocular disease. She also completed an internship at the Michigan College of Optometry centered on primary care, contact lenses, and pediatrics, and participated in an optometric mission trip to Peru.

A recipient of the American Academy of Optometry Student Travel Fellowship and the George N. Holcomb Memorial Scholarship, Dr. Leisner is an active member of the American Optometric Association, the Virginia Optometric Association, and the Richmond Optometric Society. She previously served as treasurer for the Student Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity.
